there was actually an interesting story in the ds9 companion what-i-got for christmas (it was reduced, apparently... :D) about the whole dax-gay-vibes thing... after that episode aired, they got this massive influx of telephone calls from people complaining about it, saying things like "ugh, i had to let my children watch that. it's disgusting."

to which the producers and writers calmly said, "so, if, say, a woman shot another woman down in cold blood, you'd be okay with that?"

"yes, of course..."

their 'ugh, people' reaction was pretty much the same as mine...

i stuck with voyager on a matter of principle, and because i honestly thought it would get better and the character development might start developing again. alas, it wandered off along with jeri taylor. C/7 was the most heinous crime against humanity ever witnessed...
