A food diary's a good idea, but don't cut out any entire food groups without seeing a dietician - you'd need to get advice on replacing the vitamins/minerals... and it never hurts to see a doctor for this stuff. Which I know is a pain to be told when you've had to see them a lot anyway, but... *shrug* It's just best to check.
