Chef Gordon and I were actually discussing these very things in the cafeteria the other day (before I was mercifully released for my week-long summer "break"!) We both are of the same mind that what we are currently witnessing was best described in "My Fair Lady" as "the cold-blooded murder of the English tongue". *shudder* I have classmates who can't spell worth squat, who think that I make up words, berate me for using a broader vocabulary than a 6-year-old (literally, a 36 year old man didn't know what exponentially meant), and THESE are the college-bound! That's the thought that gives me cold chills at night! This is the demographic of people actually attempting to better themselves! We need to crack down harder, (god forbid) expect MORE of students than the bare semblance of progress! We will shortly become a planet run by gibbering idiots (wait, that's now, isn't it? Damn, too late)
If this could possibly fit into the thread...
