Random Fandom Meme

I'm sure I've used that subject title before... Anyway, stolen off [livejournal.com profile] commoncomitatus, whom I suspect will be the only person to play.

Reply with a show/fandom, and I'll tell you the following:

› Favorite character.
› Least favorite character.
› Prettiest character.
› Character I'd marry.
› Favorite pairing.
› Favorite episode.
› Unpopular opinion.

My fandoms are listed in my interests, or my tags list, but I think most of them are obvious. :P

G'wan then.

Woot!!!

...though, should I be worried that I'm already collating a list in my head?

[identity profile] teylaminh.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
You should be a bit worried, I didn't think we had that many fandoms in common... Though of course, there are several which aren't tagged...
commoncomitatus: (m → two sides of the same coin)

[personal profile] commoncomitatus 2010-11-12 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee, well my list kinda maxed out at five, plus a couple I've not seen but have read enough of your posts to be curious about nonetheless.

I NEED HELP, OBVIOUSLY.

ETA: Wait, SIIIIIIIIX.

Yeah, that was about what I came up with too.

You might as well do one more anyway. Someone else might do the fandoms we don't share. :P

OKAYINTHATCASESUNSETBOULEVARD.

Ahem.

*way too enthusiastic about this, clearly*

(ETA again - and I've clearly thought way too hard about this - for 'episode', sub 'song'. *g*)

LOL at that icon. I suspect you already know most of my answers... plus I am picturing your brain exploding from the effort of keeping that one in. :P

Sunset Boulevard...

Favourite character - Joe. I think partially because of Jeremy, and partially because I spent so much time and effort writing terribly angsty fic in which I emotionally tortured him. You get attached to characters when you break their brains on a regular basis, I suppose...

Leave favourite character - uhm... this is hard. I suppose Artie, but that's not to say he's not a good character. It's just because he has so little to do. I don't have a least favourite character, just characters I know less about.

Prettiest character - Jeremy!Joe. You had to be there. :D

Character I'd marry - none of them! Actually, probably Artie. Joe is too high maintenance. :)

Favourite pairing - NORMA/JOE. Seriously, how many more thousand words do you want??

Favourite episode scene - (given it's not a series...) - well, obviously, the Tango Scene. BECAUSE GUH. (Edit: And I wrote the comment before I'd read your edit, so favourite song also - "Too Much in Love to Care", even though it's the Joe/Betty song...)

Unpopular opinion - Norma/Joe, apparently. :P Or probably that I think making a movie of the musical would not be sacrilege, IF THEY DO IT RIGHT. I only think this because making a musical of the movie SHOULD have been sacrilege, but it worked. If they can reverse that process using the same magic, it will be brain-meltingly awesome. But if Hollywood get involved (ironically enough), it won't be. And that's that.

LOL, you're not far off with the mental image of my brain...

You get attached to characters when you break their brains on a regular basis, I suppose...

Or. When. They. Break. YOURS. It's a mutual thing, I find.

And yes, sorry about the edits. I get waaaaaay too zealous about these things, evidently! As if it even bore saying.

But, weirdly, after seeing it on stage, I so feel you on TMILTC; I was so blah about it before, and then I saw it and everything changed, and I still can't quite fathom why, because again, I don't exactly ship Joe/Betty at all. There's just something intangible about it and... and I'm gonna stop now because this fandom and words do not mesh well, as we know.

I will now restrain myself from inundating you with more fandoms until tomorrow. Or, y'know, TRY.

[identity profile] teylaminh.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I tend to break theirs before they get a chance to break mine. I learnt my lesson after Niles Crane and the Phantom, thank you very much. :D

I just love the imagery in TMILTC more than anything else. That and the ALW Gene which makes me powerless to resist a big love ballad / duet. One of these days it will become AN ACTUAL CONDITION.

And, well... only four to go, anyway. :P
commoncomitatus: (lots → and the world broke apart)

[personal profile] commoncomitatus 2010-11-12 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Contrarily, I tend to break theirs in vengeance for their breaking mine! My muses are vindictive!

LOL, ALW Gene. Is this the same gene that incites an unnatural infatuation with hearing the same thematic tune repeated ad infinitum? Because AWIDUHWEDIUH.

Five! Plus the ones I don't actually know! And you just know my brain'll pick up another three before t'morning...

[identity profile] teylaminh.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yeah, I did that at first. John and Aeryn broke my brain between them (damn you, season 3!) so obviously, they just got angst fics in return whereby I made them miserable. :D

And yes, I do believe that is also one of the symptoms. :)

Oh, it was six PLUS Jonathan Creek? Wow. I clearly need to stop inflicting things on you. :P
commoncomitatus: (m → THE FIGHTING OUTFIT)

[personal profile] commoncomitatus 2010-11-13 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
LMAO - see, vindictiveness (vindication?) is the way to go! I always feel guilty tormenting characters that haven't tormented me in one way or another. ...of course, given my fandoms, they ALL torment me in one way or another. I could even legitimise tormenting Rygel after Die Me Dichotomy.

Now that I think on it, I could probably come up with a whole list of random infatuations that could be traced back to Too Much Lloyd-Webber. Random Unnecessary Reprises, too...

Yes, six MORE, it was! ...now seven, since Paul's comment kind of reminded me of another I'd not thought of. I TOLD YOU I'D END UP WITH MORE DAMMIT.

[identity profile] teylaminh.livejournal.com 2010-11-13 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
I have no idea why I started torturing Joe, actually. It just happened. I don't know why I tormented Spike so much either, considering what he'd already taken from Buffy. :P Tortured Soul Complex: Not Just For Actual Tortured Souls, Apparently.

Oh, same here. He is horrendously addictive.

I am intrigued as to what these seven are now... Jonathan Creek, Sunset Boulevard, RHPS, Farscape, Priscilla, Glee, Buffy? I don't think Damages counts from one series (random dreams aside)... If these are different to yours then I apologise for making the list any bigger. :P
commoncomitatus: (m → oh snap)

[personal profile] commoncomitatus 2010-11-13 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, tortured soul. I suppose, if you look at very very very late-s6 Spike he's kiiiiiinda tortured. And S7!Spike definitely is. So maybe you just, I dunno, pre-empted the soul-torture before it happened? Soul!Torture Foreshadowing!!!

Yes, he is. It's like "all these things SHOULD irritate me, but I cannot get enough". It makes no sense, but I find myself eternally grateful nonetheless.

I'D COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN PRISCILLA. HOW!? But, okay, my six (JC notwithstanding) were Sunset, Scape, Buffy, Glee, Life On Mars (I know I'm a season behind, but it counts), and *ahem* Trapdoor. Seventh, thanks to Paul's picking RHPS, was gonna be Little Shop of Horrors. And now I've got an eighth in Priscilla, and a ninth in *AHEM* Tubby the Tuba.

This meme will never end. Even if nobody ever contributes ever...

[identity profile] teylaminh.livejournal.com 2010-11-13 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
With Spike, the whole Buffy thing in general was enough, seeing as he spent three seasons angsting about it...

I still blame the fact that my parents went to see Cats in London whilst I was in utero, which clearly made me powerless to resist ALW for the rest of my life.

LOL, Trapdoor. I don't know what the "prettiest character" answer would be. Boni, maybe? Also double LOL Tubby. Although terrifyingly, it's easier to answer than LSOH... ...Moulin Rouge!!! That makes ten!
commoncomitatus: (lots → he's trying to take her seriously)

[personal profile] commoncomitatus 2010-11-13 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
He does seem to angst a LOT for a soulless undead neutered harbinger of destruction, doesn't he?

...you had to mention Cats, didn't you?! Hi, 11.

And I can't believe you'd class Boni as prettier than Drutt! Drutt had babies, clearly he is the most alluring!!! I mean, CLEARLY.

[identity profile] teylaminh.livejournal.com 2010-11-13 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
I doubt the peroxide helps, really. :P Also I never thought he was that convincing as a harbinger of destruction in the first place, he was too bloody cocky for starters! And anyway, he'd just sik Dru on everyone...

Disney Villains makes 12, though I don't know if they count as a fandom. Maybe you should get back to trawling the Swircle in case you uncover any more. Most Haunted's Jaunty Hat! Er... yes, I'm going to bed now. You can leave me another fandom for the morning if you like.;)

For all we know 'Im Upstairs could be the most attractive creature in the castle!
commoncomitatus: (m → ghetto camelot)

[personal profile] commoncomitatus 2010-11-13 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
The Spike thing is really interesting - I did buy him as harbinger of destruction, and consequently had trouble buying him as the angsty smitten puppy. I wonder, if I'd been less convinced of him in S2, maybe I'd've bought him more in S5 onwards...

Also LOL!!!! @ Disney Villains. I think we're just making things up now! (Though Most Haunted is totally going on there, 'cause dammit I saw enough episodes to understand it, and you had BETTER pick the Jaunty Hat as prettiest character!).

But yes, I think it's only fitting I give you Trapdoor next, to settle this complicated matter once and for all.

[identity profile] teylaminh.livejournal.com 2010-11-13 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
Also I think the rambling accent didn't help...

I think Most Haunted is exempt by virtue of not having characters. :P

Okay, Trapdoor:

> Favourite character - That weird shape-shifting thing in that one episode. It was funny.

> Leave favourite character - Drutt. He's too... Drutty.

> Prettiest character - Boni! He has cheekbones! And... everything-bones. But still.

> Character I'd marry - probably Berk. At least he tries to keep the place tidy.

> Favourite pairing - oh dear God, I've just remembered that one with the slash. Berk/Boni. OBVIOUSLY.

> Favourite episode - They all sort of merge into one, but now the "I like your body, Boni" line in my head and it won't go away. OR: the inevitable JC crossover episode which has to happen now.

> Unpopular opinion - I don't even know of any popular opinions!
commoncomitatus: (lots → she gets what she wants)

[personal profile] commoncomitatus 2010-11-13 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
Ahhh yes, the accent. I think Americans are just incapable of pulling off an English accent with any kind of believability. They all seem to think we still hail from Dickensian times. ...though, to be fair, if I recall that one episode of Doctor Who, we're not much better at theirs...

THE HAT IS A CHARACTER DAMMIT. And so is... errrrr... the spirit guide dude thing object person ghost?

And so many levels of LOL for your Trapdoor answers, I can't even. I'll take your dislike of Drutt as an unpopular opinion, if only because it's unpopular with me. :P

...is it worrying, though, that I'm now picturing a double wedding between Berk/Boni and Tuba/Piccolo?

[identity profile] teylaminh.livejournal.com 2010-11-15 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Bizarrely, in season 7 Spike's accent improved because James Marsters was at the SFX Event in Blackpool with 3000 Buffy fans moaning at him that his accent was rubbish. So for season 7 it was vastly better, at least until he was in Angel and some idiot vocal coach ruined all our hard work. :P

The hat is not a character. :P AND NOR IS SAM! Though some of the random weirdness Derek picked up on at times might as well be (see icon).

I might go back and give you a fandom on your own entry, actually, though it'll have to wait until tonight...
commoncomitatus: (m → she will look upon you)

[personal profile] commoncomitatus 2010-11-15 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha, yes! I heard about that - quite probably from you, actually! And, to be fair, his accent was rubbish! That said, I've yet to see him in Angel, though I really should make the effort, given that I heard he's less annoying in that...

The hat is totally a character! IIRC, we had a whole storyline for it! ...or, uhm, I did. I think you might have actually been trying to watch. Did you ever explain the, err, spirit bunnies to me? If so, I think my memory may have wiped it.

LOL, awwww. I would definitely take any fandom you throw at me, obviously. And, err, at the risk of sounding too eager, CANIGIVEYOUANOTHERYET???

[identity profile] teylaminh.livejournal.com 2010-11-15 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, it probably was from me. :) I only saw the first couple of episodes of that season of Angel and then Uni got in the way and I forgot about it... I need to get them all on DVD and actually re-watch both that and Buffy at some point.

The spirit bunnies were one of Derek's more... *ahem* interesting moments. It was one of their European escapades somewhere in Sweden, I think, and he said there were ghosts of rabbits everywhere. The entire fanbase were like, "...WTF, Derek?"

G'wan then. I'll find your post in a minute...
commoncomitatus: (lots → so not a vegetarian)

[personal profile] commoncomitatus 2010-11-15 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I keep meaning to watch Angel too. I was put off at first by the 18 rating, and by the time I got over that particular hang-up, I'd kinda moved on. So need to revisit, clearly.

LOL, rabbits. I'll bet his colleagues were thinking the same thing as the fanbase, to be fair. This wasn't the same episode as the spoon of doom, was it??

HEE YAY. 'Scape, obviously. Followed by Buffy if nobody else steals it between now and you getting around to it. (*is apparently just preemptively prompting now... but there is a LOT to get though*)

...and now I get to spam you with comments to your other comment!

[identity profile] teylaminh.livejournal.com 2010-11-15 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I started watching it at first, then they killed off my favourite character and I gave up, watched a bit of series 3 and the beginning of series 5. Needless to say, it got a bit confusing.

Er, yes. It was several years after the Spoon of Doom (which IMHO is still fairly inexplicable / weird) and they'd been getting really interesting stuff a few weeks prior.

Okay, Farscape.

> Favourite character - Aeryn. I spent so much time getting into the heads of John and Aeryn during season 3 angst, but "The Choice" took my breath away...

> Least favourite character - probably Jool. I never really clicked with her.

> Prettiest character - Chiana.

> Character I'd marry - probably John. Once he's finished saving the universe, anyway.

> Favourite pairing - John/Aeryn. They were one of my uber-ships. :D

> Favourite episode - ARGH. Excluding all angstathons, I would have to say "Revenging Angel" because it's the Best Hangover Cure Ever.

> Unpopular opinion - Jool/Crais. IT TOTALLY HAPPENED WHEN WE WEREN'T LOOKING.

Do you want Buffy now or later? ;)
commoncomitatus: (m → eye sex: exhibit camelot)

[personal profile] commoncomitatus 2010-11-15 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, things do have a habit of getting confusing... especially when Whedon is involved. Still, the completist in me is morbidly curious.

And LOL spoon; all I remember of it is the icon you made, and that was weird enough!

Also also HEE REVENGING ANGEL. Didn't we watch that one while drunk one of the recent times when I visited you? Because we wouldn't be able to watch it when hungover?

Do you want Buffy now or later? ;)

LOL CONTEXT! Uhm. Now, if you don't think anyone else will steal it, later if you want to give 'em a chance. *g*
