We had a power cut last night, at about 11.45pm. Cue 15 minutes of wandering around in the pitch black with torches trying to light candles. Ordinarily, in my case, this wouldn't have been a problem, but all of my candles and candlesticks are in a box on the floor because I have nowhere to put them. I managed to dig out three usable ones, though.
The power came back again at 12.30 so I sat and read for a bit, not being tired in the slightest (this was after playing solitaire by candlelight, which isn't as easy as it sounds) and then tried to get to sleep. The power went off two more times - I know this, because every time it came back my printer would start up again with its prepping noises. By the second time, I unplugged the frelling thing.
I hate power cuts. I don't like the dark at the best of times, but it's even worse when you suddenly get plunged into it...
( I did take some arty candle photos, though. )
