My mum bought it when it came out, I think. I haven't managed to bring myself to sit through it again, alas, although I'm very tempted by the Michael Crawford recording of MOTN (in stereo!). I did think it was visually gorgeous in parts, but the casting still annoys me even now, Miranda Richardson and Simon Callow aside...
I still sort of feel like it was a practice run or something. Which is silly, but... I don't know. It wasn't right.
I should take this opportunity to plug _operasinging_, a POTO Mary Sue sporking community that specialises in movie canon Sues. :) It's funny.
