God yes, the QOTD film was horrible. I was so disappointed they didn't do a film of Lestat, though I think if they'd done it close after Interview then Tom Cruise's portrayal wouldn't have worked...

ALW has some questionable ideas about POTO, if I'm honest. He wanted to do a sequel because he thought the ending wasn't final enough, somehow failing to realise the show's popularity is BECAUSE the ending is mysterious and unanswered. He feels an affinity for Erik's story, which is kind of understandable, and LND is basically his fanfic. It's just such a shame he chose Frederick Forsyth, of all people, to try and turn it into words. Phantom of Manhattan is truly, truly horrible. I mean, he spends the introduction berating Gaston Leroux for "not understanding" the characters or writing them properly. It starts badly, ends worse. I'm terrified of seeing LND in London because I have a feeling it will be just as terrible as the book - I've heard a couple of the songs and they're okay, the instrumentals are pretty, and apparently the staging is fantastic. So I'll queue up for half price tickets if I must, but I'm not paying £50 to be disappointed. :P

Grrrrr, Phantom rage!. It never really dissipates. They repeatedly stab us through the heart (Antonio Banderas rumours in early 90s), then that wound heals and they stab us again somewhere else. It's one of my favourite fandoms but it's SUCH HARD WORK.
