I suppose, thinking on it... there's a kind of line between the kind of ship you love like a movie - where you want to watch it and enjoy it and cry at the end (and the beginning and the middle &c &c) but sort of just let it take you on its own journey without any real intervention... and the kind of ship you love like a book, where you want to dissect every word and every glance and every Moment and shape them into meaning, which is the soul-stealing sort of ship.
Neither are ~wrong, and no fandom would be complete without both... and yet...
