X-Factor result.
Dec. 13th, 2008 10:55 pmI have only one thing to say:
HA HA! I WIN!
(This will only make sense to Eni.)
A wholly and entirely suitable winner, thank you. :D

Date: 2008-12-13 11:04 pm (UTC)...actually, y'know what? I totally can't even be resentful. I'm just too happy. And relieved. But mostly happy.
Seriously. How adorable was her reaction??

Date: 2008-12-13 11:10 pm (UTC)Yeah, it's a great result. I love the fact that she just gave up halfway through her final rendition of the song. :)

Date: 2008-12-13 11:15 pm (UTC)And, oh yes, that final rendition of that song!! Not to mention the part where she literally fell over when they announced it... it was just the most awesome thing ever. Seriously, if there was any doubt about whether this stuff goes out live...

Date: 2008-12-13 11:23 pm (UTC)I don't really like the actual song choice though. I love the song already, but it's quite good enough without being forced into the Christmas number one slot by virtue of X-Factor... I think Alex kind of had an unfair advantage with it, as it can't work effectively as a group song...
(There's already a group on Facebook with 18K members getting people to download the Jeff Buckley version on Monday...)

Date: 2008-12-13 11:33 pm (UTC)Amen to the song being too good for an X-Factor song choice. Though I'll be honest and say I preferred JLS's arrangement to hers. I liked the softness of their version and the power in her voice didn't do justice, IMHO, to the quiet passion of the song. In every other way, though, she pwned everyone and everything.
(Yea, I heard about the Facebook thing... and that actually annoys me even more than them bringing it out as the X-Factor song. If they're going to insist on the song making number one outside the X-Facto influence, at the very least plug the freakin' ORIGINAL, for crying out loud. < /rant > )

Date: 2008-12-13 11:38 pm (UTC)I think I actually preferred it when they made up crappy original winner's songs...
(Heh, there's actually a discussion about that, and the answer seems to be that Leonard Cohen preferred the Buckley version anyway, and I think most people see that as the 'definitive' one.)

Date: 2008-12-13 11:45 pm (UTC)(And yea, I ge tthat the song is all about the Buckley, as is the case with many other unfortunate songs that are covered with greater success than the originals... but it just seems like one of the most hypocritical things in the world, to me, to say "support the song! don't buy the X-Factor cover! buy another cover instead!")
