*headdesk* Yea, I imagine it ~would be~ a male thing. I suppose 'cause they probably find themselves on the receiving end of fangirls' unrealistic expectations and are made bitter by it. Or something... possibly their brains just aren't wired to grasp the concept of fantisification or issue!displacement or development or... well, any of the fourteen thousand other reasons why shipping is awesome.
Yes doomed! And dark! The problem with easy pairings is... actually another of the problems I have with canon ones, as it goes - THEY'RE ALL RIGHT ~THERE. There's no wiggle room, no exploration, no nothing. It's... I don't wanna say 'bland', because half the time it's not. It's just... like... the job is done, y'know, and the best thing you can do is sit and watch it unravel at its own pace. I always kind of feel like I'm ~interfering, when it's a canon pairing, even letting myself ~think about them, 'cause there's an actual Canonic Purpose there... whereas subtext and peripheral pairings are more... there's more room to explore unfettered.
