Two (possibly three) bizarre dreams...

I've not been sleeping well the past couple of days, though not for any apparently obvious reason. I just keep waking up at about 1am and finding it impossible to go back to sleep. Which could account for my tiredness all of this week and the weird dreams I had last night...
So, the first one... well, I remember that it had something to do with Liz H, the Reviewing Officer who's been off sick for the past four weeks, probably because she's due back in on Monday and will have something of a backlog to get through, including some minutes someone requested I send out yesterday afternoon... and couldn't, because Liz had them. Anyway, she was in the dream, and she was faxing/emailing through lots of paperwork in large batches, which was being printed, and I was losing track of it completely.
In the second one, I was meant to be going to start another course, apparently in Manchester. But not at Manchester Uni. Instead, it was another university on the other side of Manchester... I don't know what the course was that I was meant to be starting, but there was this really weird section where I was going with people to some kind of operating theatre, where we got to look at disembodied gums, with no teeth (don't ask) and a comedy horror foot that was covered in green mould... and then I was wondering if they'd give me a job because I had experience with Child Protection... Before I even got there we were driving in little go-karts, and to get to the place we had to ride down a giant bobsleigh ride... The halls of residence I was meant to be staying in were all lived in by people with fairy lights and a penchant for wall hangings, and I remember quite randomly suddenly remembering that Eni lived in Manchester and I'd be able to actually meet her...
And in the second one, I was having a Hallowe'en party. I'd gone back to some place where I knew lots of people, and there was a 'haunted house' full of photos from various horror films, where people had to bounce around it on pogo sticks. I remember seeing Skinner and a couple of the Lone Gunmen from The X-Files at one point... on pogo sticks.
Oh! And I've just remembered there was a section where both my recurring stormy sea and strange, complicated hotel made an appearance! Though I don't exactly remember why...
Um, yes. The Hallowe'en one. Quite randomly, I was Graham Norton's Best Friend again (third time, I think...) and invited him to the party, and was finding him Eric Idle song lyrics for some unfathomable reason... Er. People turned up at the party that I didn't know, as well as people I did - I remember seeing
translucent and a few others. I hadn't had time to finish my costume so I'd rented one from a shop and was being a Harlequin, but the party was becoming disastrous, and there was this whole section about a film where little green bugs grew and bred and then escaped and ate people... but the little tiny green ones were more dangerous than the big winged ones, for some reason...
The rest was all random images. I remember an effigy of Christ at one point, and a landscape. Most weird.
Yeah, it all made much more sense at the time.
Now, I have a dilemma. I'm meant to be going somewhere with Aisha (randomly - whee!! Carmina Burana!) though I don't know what we're doing any more as the original plan was to see The Bourne Supremacy with her and Crystal, but Crystal's not coming... so we might be doing something else. Anyway, she's going to bring all the details of her elective in LA, which I'm meant to be accompanying her on. And it's April-May of next year. Which I think is when I'm meant to be going to Athens with Vicky and her parents... though I'm not sure if that's been booked yet.
So, dilemma. I'm not sure when Easter falls, or when the trip to Athens is, but I have a suspicion it's the month I'm meant to be going to LA with Aisha. And if I had the choice between the two (LA being £100 more expensive, so I'm not bothered about that, as I was going to pay £500 for Athens anyway) I'd choose LA.
I mean, LA. The American one. Aisha's giving me this fantastic chance to go with her for a month to a place - not the first city of choice, I'll admit - I've wanted to go to for as long as I can remember. But Vicky's giving me a chance to go with her on a trip to Athens the likes of which I wouldn't ordinarily go on... I don't want to let either of them down, and technically I did promise Aisha first, and Vicky knows I'm meant to be going to LA with her, but that was when it was still planned for June, and she wanted to go with me because her friend Laura was really annoying when they went on a tour in London and she doesn't want to fall out with her... And I know that Aisha and I always ended up arguing on DofE when we had to share a tent, but that's because we're both bossy and it was stressful... Gah, I don't know. I mean, LA wins over Athens hands-down, but it's a case of which person I let down...
So, what do I do? All opinions and suggestions gratefully accepted. Just be glad I didn't give you the other dilemma I'm stuck in...

Date: 2004-09-25 05:49 am (UTC)The question still remains whether I just don't bother with America until I've earnt it. But then I probably won't get there at all...
