Okay.  Was getting violently annoyed by the fact that no matter what I did, the S1 style edit was refusing to show any userpics (and accidentally putting an extra "http" in front of them, apparently, which might account for some things), so I've gone for the "I-have-a-paid-journal-snazzy-layout" layout, at least for the time being and until LJ sort themselves out.  Sorry, Eni.  No more Satine. :)

If you mean userpics, make sure they're under 40kb in size and no bigger than 100 by 100 pixels. They also need to be either JPEGs or GIFs...

If you mean generally posting pictures, you'll need to find somewhere to host them before you can do anything with them.
