All these tapes in my head swirl around
Keeping my vibe down
All these thoughts in my head aren’t my own
Wreaking havoc

(From "Tapes" - Alanis Morissette)

These lyrics kind of sum up my brain at the moment. Nevertheless I'm overdue an update, so here is something resembling one.

Friday - not very much of anything. There was literally no work to do, and we had a team lunch at 1.00 at Minzu on Corporation Street (law courts end) which was very nice and a very reasonable £7.00 per head.

This was followed by a team meeting, perhaps not the best plan on a Friday afternoon, which devolved into the usual silliness and snarking. We have all decided to boycott the department Christmas do (because it's rubbish) and have our own. Firstly the German market was suggested, until I said I would end up killing someone (thankfully, Shaan understood what I meant. :P) so we may be booking a table at Asha's. My team are lovely people and it will be nice for us to spend more time together, as it happens so rarely.

On Friday evening I killed time until Paul finished getting half-drunk (*rolls eyes*), before meeting him halfway to Alison's house, where we were going to meet Danielle. Bit of an odd night, really. I was knackered (so what else is new) and by the time we left Paul had drunk himself to the point of Whinging Two-Year-Old. I did speak briefly to Danielle but was so bloody tired it was a bit redundant and nothing much beyond "Hello, nice to finally meet you..." She is lovely, though.

Just before I left, Trev and Lloyd were engaged in a loud argument about Scientology - I think they were actually agreeing with each other but it was sort of hard to tell. Anyway, we rang for a taxi just before midnight and then went to stand outside and wait for it, because people were gearing up to buy cannabis and Paul didn't want to be tempted should it turn up.

After ten minutes, still no taxi. Unsurprising, as we had called Ambassador, having sworn never to do so again after the being-stranded-in-Solihull debacle. Paul rang them a second time to no avail, and at one point attempted to flag down a passing car. *sigh* He then rang a different taxi firm, confused the woman on the phone by being drunkenly rambling and incoherent, then hung up on her.

At which point, being fucking freezing and pissed off by (a) the taxi firm and (b) Paul's failed attempts to fix it, I decided we should walk. Which we did - Paul moaning the entire time - as far as Moseley village, from where we got a taxi. At least the walk warmed me up, and - well, exercise.

Saturday and Sunday were spent doing absolutely bugger all, while I have the chance. I made chilli con carne on Saturday night, though, which was quite nice. Literally the easiest thing ever. Chop ingredients, throw in saucepan, simmer for an hour. And my rice worked, for once. We had the remainder on Sunday with baked potatoes.

Also watched Superbad on Saturday evening, which was entertaining...

That's about it. At the moment my brain is full of what the heck I'm doing week after week, so if I don't update, that'll be why...

*hugs*

Just seems like you might be in need of one. And, if you're not... well, a hug never goes amiss, right?

Thanks. And yes, a hug is always appreciated.

I blame the fact mostly that the flat is bloody freezing so I just want to spend all my time in bed. Meh.

Ugh, I hear you on that. I've spent every spare minute of the last two weeks wrapped up in as many blankets as I can find, and as a result feeling like I'm about eight hundred years old. It's horrifically depressing.

Do you have any slippers? As in, really *good* slippers?
That said there's nothing intrinsically wrong with staying warm in bed is there...?

Ah Superbad. "We need road beer".

My slippers are leather with suede insoles so are fairly warm and mostly, actually, my feet don't tend to suffer so badly with the cold, just my hands...

I just feel unproductive and blah if I come home and go straight to bed. At least the PC is by the radiator now. :)
